12/06/00 Irving Plaza, New York, New York - Milarepa Fund Benefit for Tibetan Freedom Back at the Chicken Shack (Jimmy Smith) / Further On Up The Road (Don Robey), Been Loving You Too Long (Jerry Butler / Otis Redding), Who's Been Talkin' (Howlin' Wolf), She Said She Said (Beatles), One (U2), Little Wing (Jimi Hendrix) Page McConnell, Warren Haynes, and Mickey Raphael (harmonica player for Willie Nelson, et. al.) played this set among the tables on the floor of the venue, to an audience of approximately 200. The event celebrated the release of well-known rock photographer Danny Clinch's book "When the Iron Bird Flies." The book is a chronicle of Clinch's work and the past four Tibetan Freedom Concerts, where under a pole and drape tent, he photographed some of the most compelling portraits of musicians, Tibetan monks and nuns, dignitaries, crew and concert organizers. Proceeds from the event and the book will benefit the Milarepa Fund, the foundation for Tibetan Freedom founded by Beasite Boy Adam Yauch. Photos Thanks to Dan Estrin and Dan Hantman

Vermont Jazz All-Stars - 11/16/00 Tuttle Middle School, South Burlington, Vermont Now's the Time (Charlie Parker), Big Joe's Blues Medley (Big Joe), Night in Tunisia* (Dizzy Gillespie), The Chicken (Maceo Parker), Billy's Bounce (Charlie Parker), Everyday I Have the Blues * - with hip-hop lyrics; with "Rico" (who regularly performs with one of Dave Grippo's groups in the Burlington area) The songs were performed in two mini-sets for the middle school audience. The Vermont Jazz All-Stars are Trey Anastasio (guitar), Big Joe Burrell (tenor sax), Dave Grippo (alto sax), Stacey Starkweather (bass), Bruce Sklar (keys), and Kenny Goldfield (drums).
