By now many of you have e-mailed me asked for the status of the tapelist creator which was once here. I apologies for not getting back to each one of you on an individual basis.
The problems that existed with the old tapelist creator made it impossible for me to continue using it on gadiel.com. The system was slow, inaccurate, contained many bugs, and would often crash the server.
Due to the success I've been experiencing in programming in ASP for JamBase.Com (Check it out!), I decided to create the tapelist creator in ASP and store all the tapes and users in a database so they could easily be cross-referenced, searched, stored, updated and maintained.
What I have discovered is that ASP pages with an Access Database tend to slow down the system even more than the old system. Thus, if I were to make this system active and allow people to store their tapelists once again, havoc might occur. Nonetheless...I am steadily working on trying to code a better version of the tapelist creator that is both secure and easy to use.
If you are extremely anxious to store your tapelist, I recommend checking out one of the other services available on the web...I believe TapeTrading.Com has a good service.
What I am hoping to create is a quality system which makes it easy for you to edit your list online, as well as the ability to search through the lists for a specific show. Not an easy undertaking, but also not impossible...I also hope to incorporate it into JamBase.Com in some way, since it will essentially be using the same technology.
Please stay tuned, and I'll do my best to keep everyone informed of my progress.
For those of you who had previously stored your tapelist on Gadiel.Com, I'm sorry to say that your tapelists won't be able to be used in the new system right away. You will, unfortunately, have to enter all of your tapes into the system again. I understand this might come as a shock to many of you, but please understand that I have done my best in trying to combat the system problems that occured with the previous system, and that when the old system crashed, it took down many of the book-keeping files I had online, thus erasing many of the records and files needed to maintain user data...I will, however, try to incorporate some kind of import function into the new system for people on the old system, but that might take a little while longer after the new system is up.
Thanks for bearing with me, and I appreciate everyone's words of encouragement. I will try my best to keep everyone up to speed on the progress...
